Hello
Hello, and welcome! I’m Jenny Stevenson, a mixed media collage artist based in Derby, UK. My work is rooted in a passion for exploring the stories held within places, buildings, and the people who once inhabited them. Through mixed media collages, I aim to preserve the echoes of industrial and urban life, capturing the history and emotions embedded in architecture.
Every piece I create begins with uncovering the hidden narratives of a place - whether it’s the textile mills in Derbyshire, boot and shoe factories of Melbourne, South Derbyshire, or other spaces rich with history. I incorporate materials directly tied to these stories, such as fabric remnants, leather, and metal, to create textured, layered works that evoke the wear and tear of time.
Recent projects have focused on celebrating the workers and industries that shaped local communities. Reviving Melbourne, for example, weaves together collages, poetry, photography, and personal interviews, giving voice to memories before they fade. This collaborative approach brings depth and authenticity to my work, offering a glimpse into lives once lived and industries that left a lasting mark on their surroundings.
Whether you’re drawn to history, craftsmanship, or the beauty of something aged and storied, my work invites you to step into these worlds and connect with the past in a meaningful way. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you’ll find inspiration and connection in the stories I bring to life.
